On Monday 19 January, the Business Travel World Awards 2009 took
place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. This event is now in
its 15th year and is attended by senior people from
across the industry.
Barclaycard Commercial, together with partners Conferma and
Portman Travel, won the award for best Business Travel
Product for Barclaycard Hotel Tracker, beating off
competition from Carlson Wagonlit Travel, GetThere and
Thetrainline.com.
Working with Conferma, who power the winning product, and
Portman Travel, the first major travel management company to adopt
the technology, Barclaycard Commercial created Hotel Tracker, a
corporate hotel booking tool which helps streamline hotel payments
for corporate companies, booking agencies and hotels alike. It
provides numerous benefits to the customer, including:
- the ability to quickly check bills against negotiated
rates
- easy monitoring of individual spend and adherence to expenses
policies
- reduced requirement for employees to carry corporate cards
- simple implementation and integration with accounting
systems.
Graham Flack, Managing Director, Portman Travel, said:
"The Hotel Tracker lowers our customers' costs, reduces
their security risks and radically streamlines the whole process of
booking and staying in hotels. It is an excellent service for our
customers and we believe the Business Travel World award is very
well deserved."
Neil Radley, Managing Director of Barclaycard Commercial,
said:
"For me, this is a great example of how we are working with
our business partners to make life simpler for our customers which
is central to our vision of the future".
Paul Raymond, Director of Strategic Relationships at Conferma,
said:
"This award has demonstrated the value of a true business
partnership. Barclaycard's flexible attitude allied to Portman's
entrepreneurial approach has underpinned the successful delivery of
this product".
